As we all know, the recorded video format by Panasonic P2 camcorders, Canon XF series camcorders, etc., is MXF, which is the abbreviation of Material eXchange Format. It is an open file format, targeted at the interchange of audio-visual material with associated data and metadata. People who want to edit MXF files with Avid Media Composer usually encounter video and audio problems, as .mxf format is efficient, but simply isn't engineered to maintain quality during complex post production effects processing. Uncompressed HD format delivers superior image quality, but data rates and file sizes can stop a workflow dead in its tracks. Although Avid claimed it supports MXF, the MXF format is not ideal for editing yet - even if Avid can successfully ingest your MXF videos, it still needs a long time for rendering. Well, Avid DNxHD format delivers both efficiency and quality without compromises. So, before transferring MXF files to Avid MC, you'd better convert MXF to Avid DNxHD for smoothly editing.

To convert MXF to Avid DNxHD quickly and easily, EaseFab Video Converter for Mac is highly recommended. This program features high efficiency and seamless conversion. The program is capable of converting Canon XF as well as Sony XDCAM and Panasonic P2 MXF to DNxHD, MPEG-2, Apple ProRes, Apple Intermediate Codec, etc. for smoothly importing and editing with Avid Media Composer 5.5/6.0/6.5/7.0, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, iMovie and more. If you're using a Windows PC, please turn to its equivalent Windows version here. Below is the workflow of MXF to DNxHD MOV conversion.
